Born February 8th, 1931 in Warren, to the late Earl and Sarah Rudolph Johnson, Elaine was raised by her foster parents Raymond and Mabel McManus. She worked as a nurses aid at the Warren State Hospital for 24 years, retiring in 1990. After her retirement, she continued at the state hospital as a volunteer.
